The Jefferson Memorial was dedicated, marking the 200th anniversary of Thomas Jefferson’s birth.  President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered the dedication speech, honoring Jefferson’s legacy as a Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence, a central intellectual force behind the American Revolution and advocate for liberty and democracy.
