Alex Ovechkin, playing for the Washington Capitals, scored his 895th career goal to become the highest scoring NHL player in history, surpassing Wayne Gretzky’s 894 career goals.  The New York Islanders beat the Washington Capitals, 4-1, at UBS Arena in New York City.
