Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev disrupted a U.N. General Assembly session by pounding his desk with his shoe during a dispute. He did so to protest a speech by Philippine delegate Lorenzo Sumulong when, during a speech, he denounced the Soviet Union’s takeover of Eastern Europe.
