Willie Mays, made what is considered the greatest catch in World Series play off a Dick Wertz screaming line drive into deep left-centerfield. Willie turned back toward the infield and made an even more amazing throw, keeping any of the runners from scoring. The Giants and Indians were tied 2-2 in the 8th inning of that game and the Giants went on to win, 4-2.  The game was played at the Polo Grounds in New York City.
