Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves tied Babe Ruth’s home-run record by hitting his 714th round-tripper in Cincinnati.  The Cincinnati Reds beat the Atlanta Braves, 7-6.  Vice President Gerald Ford, on hand to throw out the first pitch, joined commissioner Bowie Kuhn to present Hank Aaron with a plaque.
