Anton Schmid was executed in Lithuania that was under the control of Nazi Germany, for helping 300 Jews escape extermination. After the war, Anton Schmid was awarded the Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
