Billy Martin succeeded John Goryl as manager of the Minnesota Twins’ top farm team in Denver of the Pacific Coast League, which had gotten off to an 8-22 start. Led by the batting of Craig Nettles, Martin’s Denver Bears was 65-50 for the rest of the 1968 season against the likes of Don Zimmer, Clyde King, Warren Spahn, Bob Skinner, Joe Adcock, Whitey Lockman and Mickey Vernon.
